About the Research Group
Our research program currently consists of the following three themes: (1) Synthesis of emerging 2D materials by flux, CVT, and CVD methods; (2) Developing new structure based on 2D materials to other energy-related applications such as photo-thermoelectric vertical devices and electrochemical catalysts with graphene and other layered transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) materials. (3) Conducting atomic microscopy by Scanning tunneling microscopy for nanoscale understanding of the materials.
About the Group Leader
Prof. Heejun Yang, received his Ph.D. from University of Paris-Sud XI, France and Seoul National University (Dual degree) in 2010. From 2010 to 2012, he worked as a R&D staff member at Samsung Electronics. Then from 2012 to 2014, Prof Yang conducted his research on spintronics with Prof Albert Fert’s group (2007 Nobel Laureate in Physics). From 2014, Prof Yang has been working in department of Energy Science and N center at Sungkyunkwan University as an assistant Professor. So far, Prof Yang have published many significant works as first and corresponding author in leading journals including Science, Nature Physics, Nano Lett, ACS Nano, et al. Several representative papers are listed below:

About Our Center:
Center for Integrated Nanostructure Physics (CINAP), located at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) is recently founded under the roof of Korea Institute for Basic Science (IBS) which is established mainly to secure creative knowledge and fundamental technology for the future through world-class basic science research in Korea. The CINAP goals are to perform outstanding research in the fields of fundamental and applied physics of low dimensional structures and to product young scientist committed to nanophysics and nanoscience. To establish interdisciplinary research Center on nanostructures incorporating condensed matter physics, biophysics, organic and inorganic chemistry, and material science. The research field mainly consists of i) synthesis of hybrid nanostructures and their new functional properties, ii) structural analysis, iii) photo-thermoelectric, iv) correlation nanoscopy, and vi) computational modeling. The facilities in this center are shown in the link below:
